In the Old Testament, Elijah raised the dead son of the widow of Zarephath.  Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus.  Just days before his own resurrection, Jesus raised His friend Lazarus.

None of those three resurrections defeated death.  They only delayed it.  The person in question lived longer, yes.  but eventually they died (again).  Death won in the end, despite the temporary setback,

But with Jesus’ Resurrection it is different.  I say “IS” because He hasn’t died again.  He defeated death, and broke its grip.  It could not claim Him, through the power of God.

And He lives to this day.

He’s seated at the right hand of God the Father.  He make intercession for believers when the adversary accuses them of sin.  He will come again, victorious in power.  He will judge the world, the quick and the dead.  He invites those who trust in Him into life everlasting.

This is the resurrection that MATTERS,.

And today we celebrate it.

I don’t know what your tradition is.  Mine is I blast Don Francisco’s He’s Alive as loud as I can and sing at the top of my lungs.  So I’ll share it here with you:

I invite you to enjoy  as well!

Celebrate the Resurrection.

He Is Risen!

P.S.  Today is the last day to get I Will Sing Of My Redeemer for just 99c.  You can find it anywhere e-books are sold or you can get it it on my website.  So many of the old hymns feature the gospel and the resurrection front and center.  It’s valuable to reflect on their lyrics.  My personal favorite is In The Garden.  The story of Mary’s encounter with the newly resurrected Jesus speaks of such hope and joy.  I hope you get a copy and it blesses you too!
