Happy Resurrection, !

In the church where I grew up we did a “thing” at Easter. It was a kind of greeting that we generally did at this time of year.

One person would say “He is risen!”

The other person would respond, “Hi is risen, indeed!”

It was a simple thing, really.  But it created an amazing sense of community.  The little coordination and “knowing how to respond” made everyone feel special.

Rituals like this are part of what makes community. They reinforce the values and the purpose of the community. They help the members identify each other and demonstrate belonging.

This morning on my prayer team call, I threw out a “He is risen!” just to see what would happen.  And I got an “indeed” in response.

It made me smile.

On this day there is nothing more to say.  In the light of the glorious resurrection, nothing else seems to matter.

So I conclude by saying to you:

“HE IS RISEN!”

Expectantly,

Dennis
