It has a lot of parts that paint pictures that are frankly very frightening.  It’s probably something you would never want to experience firsthand.

The Book of Revelation is an often misunderstood book of our Bible.  But it’s in our Bible.  It’s important.  It has a message for us that we desperately need to understand.

While many people think Revelation is meant to reveal the end-times, it’s purpose is actually quite different.  It points to Jesus.

That’s it.

The first verse lays it out for us:  “The revelation of Jesus Christ…”

The entire book is about Jesus.  In it’s pages, we see Him revealed as nowhere else in our Bibles.

Revelation is a book of closure.  All throughout our Bible, we see wickedness going unpunished.  We see the righteous being persecuted and treated badly.  The wicked prosper and turn their backs on those who do good.  Revelation brings closure to all of that. It shows the final judgment and how God’s holiness impacts everyone who has ever lived.

Revelation is also a sobering look at God’s justice and our depravity as humans.  Even as God begins to deliver judgment on the earth, people do not fall down in repentance and worship.  No, they run harder and faster in the opposite direction.

Yes, Revelation is an important (and misunderstood) book in our Bible.  This week I take a look at the book and show how it draws our eyes again and again back to Jesus.

This lesson is long, so I posted it on my website.  You can go directly to the conclusion of the Understanding the Bible Series here.  This is the session on Revelation.

Since this is the twelfth installment in this series, if you’ve missed one of the earlier sessions, you can see them all in their proper sequence here.

I’ve been working on this series for almost six months now.  I knew that if I could just start working on it, I’d get to the end – eventually.  And now I’m there.

In a couple weeks I want to share a little more about my grand plans.  I think educating God’s people is more critical now than ever before.  And I’m getting ready to take a big step before the end of this year.

I hope it’s a journey you’ll take with me.

The end result will be glory to God and health in His church.

Blessings,

Dennis
