You don’t have to walk very far to trip over false teaching.  It’s all around us and there are hundreds, even thousands of people ready to share their philosophy of life and ask you to buy in.

As I shared on Monday, I monitor book promotions to understand what kinds of books people are pushing and if the sites are viable for me to promote my books.

Below are some juicy samples I found in the book category that I would most likely put my work in:  Inspirational / Devotional / NonFiction.

A lifelong yoga and meditation practitioner, with 45-years’ experience, he needed the mental healing power immediately if he wanted to survive. But more than that, he needed to do a deep dive into who he was and who he wanted to be. As he made his journey, Blair realized that he could help others. Would you like to be able to feel more alive, peaceful, and loving? Attracting good people and the circumstances that lead to abundance can be learned by anyone. This is how he changed his life. With this easy-to-understand book for beginners, a world of possibilities will be within reach.

But we know that the only redeemed identity available is found in Jesus, not deep meditative practices.  If you want to know who you are or who you should become, relaxing isn’t the answer.  Read your Bible.  God has a plan for you and has clearly communicated what pleases Him.

If you’re looking for “the good life” – follow the ancient practice of searching out the life that pleases God.  That’s the definition of Biblical wisdom.

Here’s another real gem:

”A self-growth novel that is unmatched by any other in its genre, it will take you on vacation from limiting beliefs and negative self-talk to rediscover your inner power strength. Books make us think, and this book creates a pyramid to bring all the different paradigms of human experience with multiple perspectives full circle. Breaking down mass beliefs and how holding onto limiting beliefs dictate our lives.

If you want to find inner power and strength, look no farther than the Holy Spirit.  It has been the testimony of faithful believers throughout the ages that through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, they have found the strength to remain faithful and endure trials and tribulations with joy.

Even Paul the apostle himself says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

You don’t need meditation techniques to find strength.  You need Jesus and the Comforter He sends.

Here’s another one…

The short, 6-second mindfulness practices offered in this are designed to put you back into a place of peace and contact with your Soul, to, if only for a moment, remind yourself of who you are, an Eternal Being of Higher Consciousness, making it easier to cope with the world and to grow and evolve into your Self.

I agree that we are all eternal, and our eternal destiny is what is at stake in this life.  But this makes it sound like we’re some kind of deity or something.  There is no glory in being eternal.  The big question is what is being done with that eternity.  An as Jesus so pointedly put it,

“I am the way the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father, except by Me.”

Celebrating our eternality will only cause us to miss this radically important point.

Like I said, you don’t have to go far to trip over bad theology and misleading, counterfeit teaching.  For us the goal is to maximize on truth.  On Monday I suggested my book on hymns that reflect on great truths of Scripture.  Today I would point you to the “horse’s mouth” itself.

Read your Bible.

I don’t much care if you get a Bible designed to help you read it every day like this one I’ve mentioned before.  Or if you decide to dive into God’s word and study it for yourself.

If the latter I would recommend my Six Easy Methods study of 1 Timothyas a great starting point – although you can choose any study you like.  If you choose 1 Timothy, use discount code TRUTH  as my thanks and to get 50% off for being on the mailing list.  That coupon is good until 11/25/21, so use it now while it’s good.  It’s like getting a $20 bill for clicking the link.

The adversary would love nothing more than to trip you up with some counterfeit belief.  He would take perverse delight in causing you to stumble with a little nugget of distraction.

And he’s trying his devilish best to do just that.

So take steps and protect yourself.  Run to the truth of God’s word and find your refuge in Him.

Until later…

Dennis
