Listen – don’t read – to a summary of 6 books of the Bible!

Today I played around with some fun technology and generated a podcast overview of Give Us A King! (the ENTIRE book).

You can listen to the “podcast”:

Scroll down to the section entitled “450 Years in 28 Minutes”.  Click play and you will be good to go.

  • How the whole kings-as-rulers got started, because that wasn’t God’s original plan.
  • 450 years of biblical history. It’s not a world history class, but you will get an understanding of how God was dealing with His people.
  • 43 kings (and one queen). Some good. Many wicked. Some short reigned, others with a long time on the throne.
  • A brief overview of key prophets who showed up with major roles in the story line of the kings.
  • The unified kingdom and the divided kingdom – and where it converged and when it split.
  • How the whole thing ended. Twice. Because Israel was conquered two times.

If you listen and pay attention, you’ll pick up some nuggets that you can drop with your friends and be the star of your church small-group or Sunday-school class.

I listened to it and it’s amazing how well it summarized the entire book. It was very true to the intentions I had while writing. Granted, they did have some difficulty with names of some of the kings. But then, so do most people!

Obviously it’s not nearly the level of detail and learning that you’d get from reading the book and doing the study, but it’s a nice-sized, digestible bite of biblical information.

Check out the “podcast”.

And if you’re feeling punchy, suggest names for the AI voices in a reply back to me. Do they remind you of anyone in your life?

Until later,

Dennis
